Miraculous Infant of Prague

Miraculous Infant of Prague

The world famous Infant of Prague is located on the side altar of the Carmelite Church of Our Lady of Victory in Prague, Czech Republic. Originally a royal wedding gift brought from Spain, it was a presented to the Discalced Carmelite Friar community by Princess Polyxenia of Lobkowitz in 1628. Realizing the community’s financial needs, she presented the statue with these prophetic word’s “I give you what I prize most highly in the world. As long as you venerate the image you shall not want.”

A few years later, the statue was seized and disposed off during an invasion of the city, by the Saxons, whereby the statue was damaged and the hands of the statue were broken off. Carmelite Father, Venerable Cyril of the Mother of God, miraculously found the statue and in 1637, praying before it with great love, heard these words, “Have mercy on Me, and I will have mercy on you. Give Me My Hands and I will give you peace. The more you honor Me, the more I will bless you.”

The original statue is majestically ornate dressed in royal robes and wearing a crown. It is made of wood and wax and is nineteen inches high. This Infant has been reproduced and is now available in many different sizes and forms all over the world.
Boston Carmel’s history is linked to this particular devotion. In the 1900’s our nuns designed and hand-crafted many embroidered mantles and clothes for Infant Jesus’ statues.
Our chapel is dedicated to the Infant Jesus and has this beautiful statue.
Many blessings, miracles, healings and graces are associated with honoring the Infant Jesus of Prague. Our Lord continues to keep His Promise to those who reverence Him.

Devotional Prayers

Prayer to the Infant Jesus
Come to me, O Divine Savior, vouchsafe to be born in my heart. Grant that, taught by Thine example, and assisted by Thy grace, I may be poor in spirit and humble in heart. Keep me chaste and obedient. I wish to live but for thee, and to do all things purely for love of Thee. O Mary, my Advocate and Mother, obtain by thy prayers, forgiveness of my past offenses and holy perseverance unto death. St. Joseph, do thou also pray for me, that I may become daily more pleasing to Jesus. Amen.

Prayer by Our Lady given to The Venerable Father Cyril OCD
O Infant Jesus, I have recourse to You and ask you through the intercession of Your Holy Mother to help me in my need, (Mention request to her) for I firmly believe that Your Divinity can help me. I hope, in complete trust, to obtain Your holy grace. I love You with all my heart and with all the strength of my soul. I am truly sorry for all my sins, and beg You, O Good Jesus, to give me strength to conquer them. I shall never offend You and I am ready to suffer rather than cause You pain. From now on I want to serve with complete faithfulness and for love of You, O Divine Child, I will love my neighbor as myself. Omnipotent Child, Lord Jesus, again I implore You, help me in this need of mine (mention it). Grant me the grace of possessing You eternally, with Mary and Joseph and of glorifying You with all the Holy Angels in Your heavenly court. Amen.
