Miraculous Infant of Prague
The world famous Infant of Prague is located on the side altar of the Carmelite Church of Our Lady of Victory in Prague, Czech Republic. Originally a royal wedding gift brought from Spain, it was a presented to the Discalced Carmelite Friar community by Princess Polyxenia of Lobkowitz in 1628. Realizing the community’s financial needs, she presented the statue with these prophetic word’s “I give you what I prize most highly in the world. As long as you venerate the image you shall not want.”
A few years later, the statue was seized and disposed off during an invasion of the city, by the Saxons, whereby the statue was damaged and the hands of the statue were broken off. Carmelite Father, Venerable Cyril of the Mother of God, miraculously found the statue and in 1637, praying before it with great love, heard these words, “Have mercy on Me, and I will have mercy on you. Give Me My Hands and I will give you peace. The more you honor Me, the more I will bless you.”
