We are pleased to offer you this lecture series on Carmelite Spirituality cosponsored by the Institute of Carmelite Studies, The Church in the 21st Century Center, and the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry.
Father Kieran Kavanaugh, OCD was a Carmelite Friar of the Washington Province and past publisher for ICS Publications, the publishing house of the Institute of Carmelite Studies. Fr. Kieran had dedicated his life to translating the works of St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross, from the original Spanish into standard American English. These wonderful translations have helped to bring the spiritual teachings of these two famous, but often previously unread, Carmelite saints into the lives of people from all religious traditions.
Father Kieran was not only known for his translations but was also an internationally recognized expert on our Carmelite saints and Carmelite spirituality in general. He published over 87 articles, essays, reviews, and translations on Carmelite themes which have been published in English, Spanish and Italian.
